A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to raise funds to promote a Testimonial Concert for Keith Tippett, early King Crimson pianist and major jazz star. Keith is recovering from a heart attack with complications and is unable to work at present. The event will be at The Theatre, RNCM, Manchester, England on Sunday 28th October at 4pm and will feature Tippett associates; Matthew Bourne (piano), Dave Kane (Bass), Graham Clark (guitar & violin), Martin Archer (saxes) and Peter Fairclough (drums). The fund is open now and will run until 30th May. Please help us make this happen by spreading the word in any way you can.
About Keith
Keith Tippett is one of the major stars of British Jazz. A unique voice as a composer with a bright, crystalline tone and fleet, fluid phrasing as a pianist, Tippett has a most imaginative approach. His projects range from solo piano concerts, duos with Julie Tippetts through string quartet, choir, jazz orchestra to the celebrated Centipede – a 50 piece orchestra including the best musicians of the day. His talents have also graced other artists music to great effect; The Dedication Orchestra, Soft Machine and, famously, King Crimson.
Keith plays concerts all over the world but in early 2018, he suffered a heart attack and his recovery has been slowed by complications which mean that a man who has devoted his whole life to the pursuit of excellence in art is currently unable to work and earn a living.
Please support Keith at this time in whatever way you can. He really has given his all to this music.
